If You Don't Think You Need An Architect - Read This

I Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself

After thirty plus years as an architect, I have heard every excuse and unsubstantiated reason NOT to hire an architect. I have also witnessed the unmitigated disasters that can result when unwitting owners decide to either take on the duties an architect can provide or - worse case scenario - turn those decisions over to the least qualified person to represent their interests - the contractor. I worked as Director of Preconstruction for a medium size general contractor, so I know of what I speak.

In that vain, I thought the first post on my new web site, Doyle Lee Stafford Architect, would be an entertaining and educational article for owners who plan to undertake any design/construction project. This post, from Lee Calisti architecture + design, describes in great detail the inherent perils of NOT hiring the most educated, experienced, unbiased and client centered professional in the building food chain. So, without further adieu, here is a great article that will help give you answers to everything you ever wanted to know about hiring an architect, but, were afraid to ask.

Ten Myths Why You Don't Need An Architect  by Lee Calisti architecture + design / Greensberg, PA.
